- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup caramel sauce, for filling and topping
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter until smooth, then add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, until just combined.
- Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full with batter and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Once baked, let the cupcakes cool before removing them from the tin.
- Once cool, cut a small hole in the center of each cupcake and fill with caramel sauce.
- Top with more caramel sauce before serving.
