  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt together.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and beat well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and coat in granulated sugar.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set.
  8. Let cool on a wire rack.
