  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
  • 1/2 cup cinnamon sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 cup your favorite jam or preserves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until well blended.
  6. Mix in the eggnog.
  7. Roll the dough into balls, then roll in the cinnamon sugar.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and make an indentation in the center with your thumb.
  9. Fill each indentation with jam or preserves.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden.

Notes

  • For a festive touch, use different types of jam for the thumbprint filling.
