Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and heavy cream.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
  7. Fill the cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Once cooled, sprinkle sugar on top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract.
  • Allow cupcakes to cool completely before caramelizing the tops to prevent melting.
