  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 pretzels
  • 24 candy eyes
  • 12 red M&M’s

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil until combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the cupcake liners, filling them about 2/3 full.
  4. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the cupcakes cool completely.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well.
  7. Add the vanilla extract and continue mixing until smooth.
  8. Frost the cooled cupcakes with the chocolate frosting.
  9. Decorate each cupcake by placing two pretzels on top to create antlers.
  10. Add candy eyes and a red M&M for the nose.

Notes

  • For an even simpler version, use store-bought frosting.
  • You can customize the decorations by using different candies.
