Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, carrots, and celery, and sauté until softened.
  2. Add garlic and ham, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in split peas, chicken broth, and thyme. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for about 45 minutes, or until peas are tender.
