- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic; cook until browned.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked ziti, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Spread half of the meat sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer with the ziti mixture and top with remaining meat sauce.
- Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
